Snaked Shutdown Control is a simple application that is designed to help users control when their system performs shutdown functions like rebooting or turning off completely. The application is provided entirely free of charge.
Installation & Requirements
There is no installation required for the application. Download the archive, extract it anywhere you want in your computer and run the executable file provided. Depending on your security settings, you might have to allow the program through your filters. You will also need to obtain Microsoft’s .NET Framework 4. The supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8.
As I mentioned before, the application is very simplistic, aiming to do very few things but do them right. The main interface should tell you everything you need to know about Snaked Shutdown Control as you will be able to access its three only functions from that menu.
Those three functions are restarting, shutting down and canceling the shutdown process in your system. As the developer suggests, the latter function can be useful in a variety of situations, especially when your computer is infected by a particularly nasty sort of virus. A lot of viruses will force your system to initiate a shutdown process and the only way to stop that is through CMD or through a program like this one of course.
The other two functions might not seem as useful at first but everything should clear up when you access the customize menu. The shutdown and rebooting processes can be configured to run after a certain time you can set through that menu, ranging from a single second to 100 days although I very much doubt anyone will take advantage of that function. The other only option found in the customize option allows you to change the background color so that you can personalize the program even if it is just a trivial change.
The simplicity of the application is a tough area to discuss because I have to talk for both the amateur and experienced crowd here. The latter group will find pretty much nothing on offer here as all of the provided functions can be performed through CMD and you can even create shortcuts that do the exact same thing. The casual crowd, however, will probably appreciate that they can access such functions through a nice visual interface. The fact that the application is incredibly tiny and uses next to no system resources is also a plus.
-Clean and neat UI
-Simple and effective for casual users
-Knowing how to use CMD renders the app obsolete
Snaked Shutdown Control’s simple controls should prove quite useful for the PC crowd that cannot be bothered to perform the provided functions manually. If you do not belong in that audience, however, there are not a whole lot of reasons to use it.
