[Guide] Force Google search results from the US

Over time, Google has gotten very good at providing local search results. So much that even if you try to open google.com, you’ll be redirected to the local domain for your country. Obviously, the search results will also be adjusted based on your location.

While that may have worked before, visiting google.com won’t give you US search results – you’ll still get local ones. It’s certainly annoying we don’t have this choice anymore but it’s still possible to force Google search results from the US.

How to force Google search results from the US

It’s easy to force Google search results from the US (or any other region for that matter) but it’s not a perfect solution because it resets each time you visit Google. In case you’re wondering, it doesn’t matter if you’re signed in with your Google user or not, your region settings won’t be remembered and it’s likely because Google wants it this way.

With that said, the method still works even though you’ll need to do it again for each search.

Force Google search results from the US

To force Google search results from the US, start by opening your local Google domain. Click the “Settings” option at the bottom of the search page. Select “Advanced search” in the pop-up menu.

In the Advanced Search settings go to “region” and open the drop-down list. Scroll down and select “United States”. Finally, click “Advanced Search” at the bottom of the page. Now you can perform your search and receive US results.

Use a VPN instead

Truth be told, forcing search results to a different region makes the search process much longer and as a result a bit inconvenient. If you need to force Google search results from the US often you might be better using a VPN instead rather than manually changing the region each time you need to Google something.

There’s an incredibly large list of VPN services available so you have plenty to choose from. We recommend ExpressVPN and NordVPN – both are reliable and ensure your online privacy isn’t compromised. Faking your location to make it appear like you’re browsing from the US is just one of the benefits you get from using a VPN and this will automatically allow you to receive US search results.
