Summary
This is a great idea: an application that removes everything BUT center information (the opposite of the karaoke plug-ins). For professional restoration engineers like myself, it could be a game-changer. The trouble is, it doesn't work well. Any benefit of the unique noise-elimination algorithm is cancelled out by the introduction of artifacts and the amateurish over-filtered sound that we now try to avoid. Too much filtering "sucks the life out" of early recordings, and this software certainly does its share of life-sucking. The controls can't be adjusted while auditioning, making it very haphazard to use. The examples on the product's website have "before and after" clips; the "before" versions have very polite, minimal crackle to begin with. It could easily be removed with much better results by Sound Forge, Waves Restoration, Izotope Rx or even DCart. I'd like to see this product stripped down to JUST the L-R removal and turned into a VST plug-in. Then it would be worth $100. But this version is useless for any professional application.
