Pros

Ease of use
Very fast
Batch rename and conversion is wonderful
Gets better with every version
Longstanding piece of software, well proven and stable.
Can be loaded onto computers even if you do not have administrative rights.

Cons

After using it for ten years I am still waiting to find fault with it.
The ability to only undo one thing historically is not so much a fault as one of the reasons it works so fast but if you need something like that then you should use photoshop

Summary

If you do not have Irfanview as your default photo viewer and handler then it is long over due that you should.
Its ease of use and many short cut keys are so handy.
I have been using it since 2000 and it just keeps on getting better.
IRFAN you are a star, I wish all software could be as good as this. Keep up the good work. If he starts to charge for it I would not hesitate to buy it. I use it almost every day.
