Many users, including myself, had problems with the Realtek sound card’s drivers on Windows Vista. The most often problem is that you have no sound in Vista, no matter what. There are many sound cards based on the Realtek Ac’97 chipset and this may become a nightmare for fresh Vista installations.
However, this problem can be resolved easily doing a fresh driver install on your VIsta. Be aware, that you must completely uninstall your already installed Realtek AC’97 drivers and do a fresh install.

Although Firefox took a large part of the browser market, Opera is not dead, in fact, it’s alive and kicking with a new updated version, the 9.6. This latest Opera version wants to be a stability and security update, but Huib Kleinhout, Opera Desktop Team manager tells us it’s more than that:

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) got its expected update, the 2.6.0. The new GiMP 2.6.0 offers several new features and improvements, but most importantly in this version, GIMP includes support for Generic Graphics Library (GEGL). The Generic Graphics Library is a graph based image processing framework which provides infrastructure to do demand based cached non destructive image editing on larger than RAM buffers.
Believe it or not, Microsoft is now offering its server virtualization software as a free download for anyone. Better yet, the new version of Microsoft Hyper V-Server is a stand-alone edition that doesn’t require MIcrosoft Server installed on the machine.
Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 is a great choice for customers who want a basic and simplified virtualization solution for consolidating servers as well as for development and test environments.

As a Windows XP or Vista user, you probably wondered how can you disable the system tray pop-ups when Automatic Updates are available or the firewall/antivirus is disabled. The firewall alert is very annoying in my case, at every fresh install, I disable the Windows Firewall because, I simply don’t like it and I use other firewalls. Upon deactivation, the Security Center pops in the system tray and starts “alerting” us that the Firewall is disabled…I don’t like that at all.

While Windows Live Messenger isn’t one of my favorite instant messengers, certain work circumstances force me to use it. The most annoying things about Live Messenger are the ads that keep on getting displayed at the bottom, ads that I believe, diverted our browser to unsolicited pages one to many times. Fortunately, there is a way around this, for people using Windows Live Messenger. It’s called Live Advert Remover and by using it, you can block any ads that get into our Live Messenger windows.
