It seems like the number of cyber criminals is growing and it reached the Mac users. The Mac systems were unaffected for a long time, the worst case scenarios were trojans that needed several confirmation from the user, to be installed and infect the system. Now, things may be a little different, as Apple posted on their support site last month. Apple strongly encourages the use of security solutions, such as anti-virus software or anti-spyware.
While personally I don’t dislike Norton or any of the Symantec products, everybody knows that Norton is a resource eating application and many of its users give up on Norton in favor of other security solutions such as Kaspersky, AVG, Avira etc.
Now, Norton is a little tricky to uninstall due to the fact that it leaves many registry entries and folders intact.

Symantec Corporation, opened this week the 2009 Public Beta versions of Norton Security and Norton Antivirus. Symantec claims that this versions will be more faster than their predecessors, more user friendly and moreoever, less resource hungry.
While the Symantec security products lost some market share to other companies such as Kaspersky, Avira or Esset (NOD32), the new features and overall speed increase might get them back on the average home user’s list.
Let’s review some important features, worth taking in consideration:
Speed Increase
The Norton programs can determine now which files are trustworthy based on prior scans and community feedback, adding them to a “white-list” and avoiding them in the future scans.
