Well, there are some good news and some bad news. The good news is that, in some cases, you can upgrade your Vista to the new Windows 7. The bad news is, well, let’s me hit you with the wall of text.
The Windows 7 Upgrade Program is designed to assist Microsoft’s OEM partners in minimizing the number of end users who may postpone acquiring a new computer because of the impending release of the Windows 7 operating system. This program allows OEMs to offer an upgrade to Windows 7 to end users who qualify.

We may witness history, as Windows XP can become the most longevive operating system as long as Microsoft won’t have any problem to reanimate it from time to time. Actually, I’m sure Microsoft isn’t too happy about it but you can’t force Vista forever and preloaded Vista systems won’t stop a XP installation, ever.

It’s clear that Windows Vista isn’t a dead OS, in fact, as we all know, the next operating system, Windows 7 is based on Windows Vista. It also seems that Microsoft is working at the next Service Pack for Windows Vista, namely SP2. While the beta invites were sent out not so long ago, rumors are that Windows Vista SP2 will be launched somewhere in January 2009.

It’s not news that Linux became a very popular OS among the average computer users and with several good Linux distributions available, Linux has also become a preferred operating system. A such Linux distribution is Mandriva and I’m sure many of you are familiar with it as it combines the Linux power with stability and ease of use.
Developers will be thrilled, Microsoft announced recently the pre-beta launch of the anticipated WIndows 7 operating system. Windows 7 attempts to “wash” the fiasco generated by Windows Vista at its release, but some are still very skeptical regarding this new WIndows version.
Developers will have the chance to see the new Windows 7 Alpha in action at the Professional Developers Conference in October. With his pre-beta launch, Microsoft clearly wants to stay on track with the final release, scheduled in 2010.
