limewire_screen1The popular Gnutella P2P file sharing client, LimeWire just added an interesting new feature within its latest Alpha build, private file sharing. This means that basically, you can share your files with anybody or just to a selected group of people, or of course, a network. This is an important update to LimeWire because it lets you configure your private file sharing either using a file-by-file filter or an user-by-user basis.

Well, the WordPress dev team announced the release of the 2.7 version several days ago, but unfortunately got stalled a little. However, WordPress 2.7 codename Coltrane was launched several hours ago and it’s aiming to impress. This new WordPress build comes with many interesting new features, a face lift and many improvements and security fixes.

WordPress 2.7 was in its beta stage for a while now and users were getting a little impatient. So, the good news is that Automatic, the company behind WordPress announced that WordPress 2.7 will be launched officially tommorow 8 PM Eastern Time.

Apple has added some long waited features in its next OS 2.2 update, but also some new improvements. The rumored Google Maps “street view” can be found within the iPhone 2.2 update along with the “public transit directions” and the new “location sharing” feature.

While the “street view” feature within Google Maps is enough to make everybody drool waiting for the new iPhone firmware, the public transit feature is a very good addition in this update. iPhone owners will be guided by choosing a transit icon such as subway or buses, along with the estimated travel time for the selected option.

The Gmail for mobile team just released the Gmail for Mobile 2.0 version for Blackberry and J2ME supported phones. The aim of this new version is to bring more speed and reliability within the new Gmail application.

For all the Firefox lovers, the 3.1 Beta has been launched for the public. This new beta version of Mozilla Firefox brings several new features but also some improvements worth mentioning.

The new Firefox features a faster Javascript performance, 3D tabbed browsing and full location-awareness. This is probably FIrefox’s “response” to Google Chrome, but I’m sure we will see more upcoming improvements for Mozilla.

The popular open-source office suite  OpenOffice.org had its 3.0 version update officially announced today by its developers. OpenOffice.org comes bundled with many new features and improvements but I think the most important are, its Mac OS compatibility and the support for the OpenDocument 1.2 Format standard.
