The current Firefox updates also addresses several security issues including several critical vulnerabilities.  Mozilla Firefox patches no more than 8 security fixes and and 3 critical vulnerabilities. Today, Mozilla decided release the beast into the public and here it is, the second beta for Firefox 3.1. Probably one of the important features of Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 is its private browsing feature, a feature that was missing from Firefox all along. Basically this feature allows you to browse the web without recording personal data, cookies or other traces.

I didn’t met any person that hates favicons yet, but doing a quick search on the internet, it seems not every Firefox user loves the little site icons. For those unfamiliar with the term, favicons are those small site specific icons, that appear on the left of the URL address bar.

If you thought Mozilla Firefox 3 was fast, you don’t have any idea. Presenting Minefield, the fastest browser on the planet, courtesy of, well, Mozilla. Although Mozilla’s Minefiled is an alpha version, it left all browsers in the dust speed wise. Some reports show that Minefield is around 10-15% faster than Google Chrome, having the fastest javascript engine out there.

Probably the most expected mobile browser of the year, Firefox for Mobile enters Alpha 1 and goes publicly. Firefox for Mobile, also codenamed Fennec, promises to the THE browser and comes with the Firefox power. Now, if you are rushing to search for it and install it, i have bad news, the Fennec Alpha 1 is aimed at Nokia N810 and N800 Internet tablet users, for now. ( installation instructions )

The guys from CNET decided to test the most popualar browsers using the SunSpider speed test. They choosed the recent Beta versions of Chrome, Firefox, IE8 and also including the latest Safari. While this chart is pretty obvious, Firefox 3.1 Beta 1 is the fastest of them all, with Chrome following him closely.

Thunderbird, the popular email client from Mozilla reached the 3rd version, codenamed Shredder. This new version comes with major improvements and significant features are spotted at the horizon. The Mozilla team will try to revamp this messaging client and by looking at the current alpha change log, it’s pretty impressive.

Probably the most important changed in this Alpha build are performance related, but usability and platform wise improvements were not neglected.
