Ubuntu, the popular Linux distribution will be launched officially on Thursday, 30 October. Both editions, the server and workstation will be available to vbe downloaded free from the Ubuntu main site and of course, FileCluster.

This version of Ubuntu will be wrapped around portability and connectivity, as Ubuntu Dev Team states. More and more users switch to Linux lately and Ubuntu is a very viable solution for home users along with enterprises.

There comes a time in our lives, when we are faced with the all mighty Linux, we want it or not (ok, maybe some of you are just lucky ). Either you want to install it at your place, help a friend who purchased a computer with Linux installed or you just purchased a Linux dedicated server for hosting, the console will greet you first and we need to learn some basic Linux console commands.

In my opinion, the Linux console is still the most powerful tool a Linux user or admin can have, although today’s Linux distributions are very easy to use, almost “console free”.

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) got its expected update, the 2.6.0. The new GiMP 2.6.0 offers several new features and improvements, but most importantly in this version, GIMP includes support for Generic Graphics Library (GEGL). The Generic Graphics Library is a graph based image processing framework which provides infrastructure to do demand based cached non destructive image editing on larger than RAM buffers.
