Probably the most expected mobile browser of the year, Firefox for Mobile enters Alpha 1 and goes publicly. Firefox for Mobile, also codenamed Fennec, promises to the THE browser and comes with the Firefox power. Now, if you are rushing to search for it and install it, i have bad news, the Fennec Alpha 1 is aimed at Nokia N810 and N800 Internet tablet users, for now. ( installation instructions )

While some people think that Opera was launched as a response to Firefox for Mobile, the reality is that Opera Mobile was launched somewhere in 2000, being one of the first browsers for mobiles. Today, the Opera Mobile browser got its second Beta, which brings the Symbian UIQ compatibility. Yes, you heard it right, the Opera Mobile browser can be installed on Symbian UIQ without a problem.

The guys from CNET decided to test the most popualar browsers using the SunSpider speed test. They choosed the recent Beta versions of Chrome, Firefox, IE8 and also including the latest Safari. While this chart is pretty obvious, Firefox 3.1 Beta 1 is the fastest of them all, with Chrome following him closely.

It’s clear that Windows Vista isn’t a dead OS, in fact, as we all know, the next operating system, Windows 7 is based on Windows Vista. It also seems that Microsoft is working at the next Service Pack for Windows Vista, namely SP2. While the beta invites were sent out not so long ago, rumors are that Windows Vista SP2 will be launched somewhere in January 2009.

For all the Firefox lovers, the 3.1 Beta has been launched for the public. This new beta version of Mozilla Firefox brings several new features but also some improvements worth mentioning.

The new Firefox features a faster Javascript performance, 3D tabbed browsing and full location-awareness. This is probably FIrefox’s “response” to Google Chrome, but I’m sure we will see more upcoming improvements for Mozilla.

Developers will be thrilled, Microsoft announced recently the pre-beta launch of the anticipated WIndows 7 operating system. Windows 7 attempts to “wash” the fiasco generated by Windows Vista at its release, but some are still very skeptical regarding this new WIndows version.

Developers will have the chance to see the new Windows 7 Alpha in action at the Professional Developers Conference in October. With his pre-beta launch, Microsoft clearly wants to stay on track with the final release, scheduled in 2010.

Allison Burnett, the Program Manager for IE8, stated in a blog post that is looking for people to beta test their upcoming version of Internet Explorer 8. The development team promises a new revamped version of Internet Explorer, with less memory problems, better functionality and extended compatibility with the current standards.

Also, Microsoft states that IE8 is focused on delivering a better user experience and an overall improved functionality.
