It seems that Microsoft messed up the math a little and the Release Candidate version announced to be launched in April, will actually come somwhere in May. The source, ArsTechnica, reports that the download page on TechNet had a rather strange early appearance, but we are used to those ‘errors’ since Beta.

Mozilla announced recently that their next browser, the Firefox 3.1 will be promoted to the 3.5 version. The main reason behind this promotion is that the next TraceMonkey eangine behind Firefox is a huge addition to the browser, which will bring Firefox to the next level. The 3.1 version didn’t pointed that out very well, as Mozilla states, so jumping directly to the 3.5 version is actually an underline of what’s to come.
Although Microsoft will present the new version of Windows Mobile later on this week, we caught a smell of what’s to come with the new WM 6.5 version. The leaked Windows Mobile 6.5 build is presented on the largest WM phone screen, the HTC Touch HD.
The new version of Windows Mobile comes with some good improvments and while this current Beta build is kinda sluggish, we expect the final version to be a little more than advertised. As you will see from the footage, WM 6.5 comes with some nice features and improvments:

Skype has announced that it will release the 4th version of the popular client. The Skype 4.0 version is still in Beta for the past several months. but the final version will arrive somewhere at the start of February, officials announced. The new Skype version will be focused on the video conferencing, making it a key feature in the new improved interface. Also, Skype 4.o will feature a new codec which will handle audio and video streams way more efficiently than the previous one, giving smoother video and clearer voice calls.

Steve Ballmer finally decided to make it official yestarday at CES, Windows 7 Beta will be available for download tommorow. Although for many of us, Windows 7 Beta was downloaded some time ago from the torrents, it’s still good news for the public.

After a long wait, Google decided to throw Picasa finally at the Mac community. Google announced that Picasa will be available for Mac users starting 5 January. Of course, Picasa starts off as a Beta for the Mac, but hey, that’s Google’s tradition. Google Picasa is a good picture manager with a web component. Shortly, Picasa can edit, organize your digital photos with the option of sharing them to your friends using the Picasa portal.

Several websites have reported a Windows 7 Beta download link appeared on the Microsoft Action Pack Subscription Page (MAPS). Unfortunately, Microsoft pulled it out shorter after the ‘leak’, but as you can see, screenshots were already taken so..BUSTED! Sources also stated that the Windows 7 Beta is ready for a while now, it’s just a matter of time until we can download it.
