Many people like to replace Windows Explorer, the default file manager within the Windows OS. Now, there are many alternatives out there and some people including myself have more than 1 favorite file manager. CubicExplorer is one of those file managers that you install and like, period. It has a very simple interface and can be customized beyond actual needs.

Check Point, the company behind the ZoneAlarm software suite, decided to give away the ZoneAlarm Pro suite for free, for just a day, tomorrow. Now I don’t know if their servers will handle the possible requests for 1 day but don’t say we didn’t told you.

Now, voice commands on the phone aren’t something new, but searching Google from your phone using your voice is. The good part is that it’s here and we can use it, the bad part is that this is only available for the Apple’s iPhone. Now I suspect that this feature will reach the Android market in the near future, but there isn’t any word for other markets such as Symbian.

There are some blogs owners or administrators out there that will love this application. If you have a WordPress blog and you receive many comments daily, managing them can be a hassle. I’m telling you, logging in and out of WordPress to approve new comments and view recent comments can be a hard job. While personally I don’t dislike Norton or any of the Symantec products, everybody knows that Norton is a resource eating application and many of its users give up on Norton in favor of other security solutions such as Kaspersky, AVG, Avira etc.

Now, Norton is a little tricky to uninstall due to the fact that it leaves many registry entries and folders intact.

Apple released yet another iPhone ad, but this time, a rather different but cool application, Shazam. Shazam will recognize any captured external music (via mic) inĀ  seconds and it will display detailed informations such as artist, song and album.

In case you ever wondered how’s it like to bail on a meeting or just an awkward situation only using your phone, here’s the answer: Fake Calls for the iPhone. Fake Calls will erm, create a fake call that will allow you to bail on any situation. You can customize caller id and even, you can schedule ‘Fake Calls’ to call you at a given time or interval. Of course, the application is available only for the iPhone and it’s not free, but I’m guessing anyone can afford to spend $0.99 for such a treasure.

This question popped in our heads many times in the past and for some, it’s still an enigma. So, I will try to clarify what is svchost.exe, what’s used for and why in some occasions it eats your CPU.

What is svchost.exe?

According to Microsoft, “svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries” or, in plain English, svchost.exe is a system program that is needed by Windows to launch other programs that cannot be run without being hosted (thus the generic host process).
