We were stunned by this application, because somehow, we felt like magicians for some minutes. World Lens is an augmented reality app that translates in real-time everything you can throw at via the iPhone camera. Yes, we’re not joking and it’s amazing. Imagine you’re in Spain and you want to park you car but there’s a sign that you don’t understand..can you park or not there…now it’s simple, open Word Lens, point the camera to the sign and it will instantly translate it into English.

Just some minutes ago, within the Back to the Mac event, Steve Jobs announced the Facetime Beta app on OS X. For those unfamiliar, Facetime was first added for the iPhone 4 and allows its users to chat via the phone’s integrated camera.

I think it’s no suprise to many that NatGeo has a gorgeous and impressive collection of wallpapers, from places around the world, cities and nature wonders. I’m not a great fan of Windows native System Restore and i’ll probably never be, due to its buggy nature. However, the guys from Comodo managed to create a backup & restore application, similar to System Restore that is actually better and more reliable. Comodo Time Machine is a powerful system rollback utility that creates certain backup points and allows the user to rollback Windows to those specific points. Practically, this allows the user/administrator create system snapshots that he can save, for later rollbackin’.
Rootkits were and still are a pain in the behind for many of us. A rookit is basically a piece of maliciouos software that allows an attacker to do stuff, bad stuff with your system. Fortunately there are many anti-rootkit applications out there, detectors and removers. Gmer is a nifty little software that detects and removes rootkits.
It scans for:
- hidden processes
- hidden threads
- hidden modules
- hidden services
- hidden files
- hidden Alternate Data Streams
- hidden registry keys
- drivers hooking SSDT
- drivers hooking IDT
- drivers hooking IRP calls
- inline hooks
You can give Gmer a test try, it doesn’t load as resident and eats almost no memory. For instructions, features and changelogs, please visit the developer’s website.

Device Doctor is yet another driver update scanner, that, well, updates your computer drivers within some mouse clicks. What made us write about this, is that, as you probably figured it out, it’s completely free. The advantages of a driver updating software are obvious, keeping your computer updated at all times, with the latest driver releases, directly from the application. Of course, there are some drawbacks to any automated task, older drivers are not always found or some incorrect versions are slipped here and there, but overall, a driver update scanner is strongly recommended.
