Apple released yet another iPhone ad, but this time, a rather different but cool application, Shazam. Shazam will recognize any captured external music (via mic) in  seconds and it will display detailed informations such as artist, song and album.

Apple just released an update for the raw digital camera support in Leopard, iPhone ’08 and Aperture 2. After this update, the following digital cameras have been added and supported:

- Nikon D90

- Sony DSLR-A900

- Canon EOS 50D

Handshake for the iPhone/iPod Touch is an application that helps you share your contact information or any contact information stored on your iPhone or iPod Touch, with anyone having Handshake installed. The application can send data using Wi-Fi, 3G or Edge with no problem and it uses the Apple’s Core Location framework.

This isn’t the first time when Apple rejects an application for competing with one of their in-house applications. It seems the history is repeating and this time, it’s about a bigger player, Opera. Opera Mini, the mobile browser was rejected because source say, it competes with Apple’s Safari web browser. Apple has found another, more legal reason to ban Opera, stating that the popular browser isn’t based on the same language or framework as Safari.

Apple has updated Migration DVD/CD Sharing was to the 1.1 version. Apple recommends all users to upgrade Migration DVD/CD Sharing but the affected machines seem to be the late 2008 MacBooks.

Apple released its 7th security update for this year, security update that fixes several bugs in the system, some minor security updates but also several critical updates such as a bug that allowed arbitrary code execution within the OS. The update addresses several other issues such as Weblog Server’s vulnerability, a heap buffer overflow in the MySQL Server and an Apache server update.

The long awaited iPhone 2.1 software update is finally here. Let’s just hope that this iPhone update will resolve some of the issues addressed by the users, including the 3G problems. Reports has shown that this update runs smoothly with a good overall user feedback. We will keep our eyes on the forums for further feedback regarding the new iPhone 2.1 update.
