operalogoIt seems that the Opera Dev Team was pretty busy over the last month, after the latest release of Opera Mini and Opera 10 Alpha, comes a stable update, Opera 9.63. This update comes as a response to some security issues that Opera had lately and all users are advised to update it. The update can be made directly from the browser,  from the Help menu, the “Chek for Updates” option, or by manually downloading Opera 9.63 from FileCluster or its official ftp.

alloffThere are many small utilities that automatically turn off your computer when you are finishing a task or at a given time interval. AllOff is the first application I know that turns off your computer when its idle, with no mouse/keyboard activity or, when the CPU load falls under a percentage. This might come in handy when you are running a computer intensive task such as rendering (that takes hours) and  you decide on leaving. AllOff comes into play and as soon as your tasks are over, it switches your computer off. AllOff monitors your mouse, keyboard and CPU activity and initiates a shutdown if no activity was read for x seconds.

Here is a scrpt that will add a snowstorm to your HTML/PHP pages without being hard on the eye or intrusive. The JS can also be customized by setting the ammount of snow, the wind and if it should collect or rapidly melt. The only drawback to this script as most JS is that some users may find your page loads rather high.

This means that basically, you can share your files with anybody or just to a selected group of people, or of course, a network. This is an important update to LimeWire because it lets you configure your private file sharing either using a file-by-file filter or an user-by-user basis.

google-chromeWe know by now that many Google projects are Beta and after many years, still in Beta (see Gmail) and the community seems somehow upset by this. Google decided today that Chrome, their in-house browser, must lose its “Beta” presence for uknown reasons, so far. My guess is that due to the fact that important Google projects were kept in Beta until they were dropped, community and fans become rather skeptical about Chrome. Well, Chrome is Google Chrome now but don’t be fooled, it’s still a Beta with numerous bugs and flaws.
