Some people are reporting that they can now select a theme and apply it within their Gmail account. It seems that Google is finally looking on the personalization side of Gmail and started adding themes. I can’t confirm this feature at this point, but as you can see from the picture, it’s not a rumor.
The Washington Post just reported that an U.S. based hosting company was responsible for almost 75 percent of all the world wide internet spam. The company in question is the McColo Corp., a San Jose, California based web hosting company.
Hurricane Electric and Global Crossing, both major internet providers for McColo, pulled the plug today upon discovering a large number of illegal activities happening on McColo’s servers including email spam,online scams or phishing websites.

Ubuntu, the popular Linux distribution will be launched officially on Thursday, 30 October. Both editions, the server and workstation will be available to vbe downloaded free from the Ubuntu main site and of course, FileCluster.
This version of Ubuntu will be wrapped around portability and connectivity, as Ubuntu Dev Team states. More and more users switch to Linux lately and Ubuntu is a very viable solution for home users along with enterprises.

Thunderbird, the popular email client from Mozilla reached the 3rd version, codenamed Shredder. This new version comes with major improvements and significant features are spotted at the horizon. The Mozilla team will try to revamp this messaging client and by looking at the current alpha change log, it’s pretty impressive.
Probably the most important changed in this Alpha build are performance related, but usability and platform wise improvements were not neglected.

After a long time in public beta, Adobe finally decided to release the 10th version of the popular Flash. It’s obvious that Adobe launched Flash 10 earlier than expected, due to Microsoft’s Silverlight, its direct competitor.

We already knew that the next Windows after Vista will be Windows 7 but hell, we thought this is a codename, like we were used to. Apparently, Microsoft decided that Windows 7 is a very good name for its next OS.
Microsoft just announced today that the next version of Silverlight, the 2.0 will be ready for shipment tommorow, 14 October. Another good news is that, due to the WSUS service capabilities, Silverlight will automatically be upgraded silently. What this means is if you already have SIlverlight 1.0 or above, it will automatically upgrade itself quietly.
Brian Goldfarb, the head of the Developer Platform group, stated that Silverlight will also gain several interesting projects, projects aimed towards the open-source community.
