Steve Ballmer finally decided to make it official yestarday at CES, Windows 7 Beta will be available for download tommorow. Although for many of us, Windows 7 Beta was downloaded some time ago from the torrents, it’s still good news for the public.
It’s that time of the year again, when we leave our Windows-es shut, our Linux-es idle and our Macs hibernating. It’s the season of joy, christmas songs and animated wallpapers. This is the season when the applications are taking a break and when the power is saved worldwide.
We wish you the best Xmas ever and don’t worry, we’ll be here waiting, with new and fresh software downloads and news from the ‘Cyber’. Don’t forget, all cookies are trial..ok?

Several websites have reported a Windows 7 Beta download link appeared on the Microsoft Action Pack Subscription Page (MAPS). Unfortunately, Microsoft pulled it out shorter after the ‘leak’, but as you can see, screenshots were already taken so..BUSTED! Sources also stated that the Windows 7 Beta is ready for a while now, it’s just a matter of time until we can download it.

Mozilla has oficially ended support for Firefox 2 and notified all its users, via the latest automatic update, that this is oficially the last Firefox 2 update. I’m personally amazed that Mozilla took this step this late, with Firefox 3 being a “best-seller” with almost 30 milltion downloads worldwide. I don’t need to cry now, Firefox 3 has everything and more, including your addons.

This is an important update to LimeWire because it lets you configure your private file sharing either using a file-by-file filter or an user-by-user basis.

We know by now that many Google projects are Beta and after many years, still in Beta (see Gmail) and the community seems somehow upset by this. Google decided today that Chrome, their in-house browser, must lose its “Beta” presence for uknown reasons, so far. My guess is that due to the fact that important Google projects were kept in Beta until they were dropped, community and fans become rather skeptical about Chrome. Well, Chrome is Google Chrome now but don’t be fooled, it’s still a Beta with numerous bugs and flaws.
We may witness history, as Windows XP can become the most longevive operating system as long as Microsoft won’t have any problem to reanimate it from time to time. Actually, I’m sure Microsoft isn’t too happy about it but you can’t force Vista forever and preloaded Vista systems won’t stop a XP installation, ever.
