Just some minutes ago, within the Back to the Mac event, Steve Jobs announced the Facetime Beta app on OS X. For those unfamiliar, Facetime was first added for the iPhone 4 and allows its users to chat via the phone’s integrated camera.

There’s some buzz around the net that Windows will be launching Live Essentials 2011 today. The release comes after the latest beta push back in August 17. While the final release is boldly set to “air” kinda premature, Microsoft promises that the latest suite will take advantage of Windows 7 fully.

Google introduced a new mobile service named Near Me Now, that helps you find services near your current location. Such services include ATMs, restaurants, hotels or bars. All you have to do is click the Near Me Now button on Google Search and the results will be served immediatelly. There is also an Explore Right Here option that narrows down the search a couple of city blocks or lets you know the user’s opinions on those new found services.

skype_logoeBay, the current owners of Skype, are considering shutting down Skype due to licensing disputes. The company stated that there are some problems with Skype’s founders that may lead to its imminent closure. Well, allow us to not fall for this..at this point. Studies show that Skype currently carries about 8% of international voice traffic and has around 40 million active users…daily.

firefox-35No wonder that Firefox has so many fans, myself included. The all debated version jump from 3.1 to 3.5 it’s finally here and it doesn’t dissapoint in any way, so far. Developers have promised increased JS loads via their internat TraceMonkey engine and, as we saw in the Beta, it’s a huge improvement.

windows7_logoWell, I need to start by saying, good job there! IE is still a crapy browser and altough I really love the new Windows 7, Firefox still ruls my kingdom. The Europeean Union made the suggestion that Microsoft should include multiple browsers into their new OS. Microsoft didn’t take the suggestion very well and, like a spoiled kid, they announced IE won’t be included at all for all Windows 7 versions shipped to the EU. Well, Microsoft, I could care less really…

Google News Timeline is a fresh and juicy web application that organizes your news, wiki references or searches cronologically, like a calendar. It may sound very basic, but in fact, it’s not. Google News Timeline allows you to add any search query, from any source and it will automatically add it into the crono-mix.
