As a Windows XP or Vista user, you probably wondered how can you disable the system tray pop-ups when Automatic Updates are available or the firewall/antivirus is disabled. The firewall alert is very annoying in my case, at every fresh install, I disable the Windows Firewall because, I simply don’t like it and I use other firewalls. Upon deactivation, the Security Center pops in the system tray and starts “alerting” us that the Firewall is disabled…I don’t like that at all.

The most annoying things about Live Messenger are the ads that keep on getting displayed at the bottom, ads that I believe, diverted our browser to unsolicited pages one to many times. Every partition has its own boot record. The boot record is used to store the first bits of software executed. Also, the boot record holds instructions needed to start Windows XP.
In some occasions, the boot record can be altered or damaged by an user error, damaged software or different types of malware or viruses.
The boot record can be fixed easily via the Windows Recovery Console using the “fixboot” command.

Although MAC (Media Access Control) addresses were designed to represent a network card’s ID and were designed as permanent, some software and techiques allow us to easily change (or “Spoof”) the MAC address easily.
Change the MAC manually under Windows XP
Method 1
Go the the Ethernet Adapter’s Properties menu, the Advanced Tab and you can see a filed named: “MAC Address”, “Network Address” or “Ethernet Address”, depending entirely on the network card’s driver.
Using this method you can change the MAC address very fast, in a matter of clicks.
Note that some network cards don’t have this featured enabled, but those are rare cases.
