Ya, it’s very annoying, I agree. Every time when Windows has finished installing some updates, the all-knowing dialog pops asking you if you want to restart now or restart later for all changes to take effect. But what if I’m doing something and I can’t restart? It’s fine, says Windows, press “Restart Later”. Oh great, says the user, pressing joyfully on Restart Later. But what on earth…the dialog appears again after a short while, asking the user the same thing? Hey heyyyy….!

Of course, advanced users may know some of those things already, but I found Ed’s post really helpful and decided to share it with you. Let’s say you like a avatar/screensaver/wallpaper website alot and you are into the funny pictures. That website has a funny category of course, with lots and lots of avatars or whatever images you can imagine. Now, you want to save all those images but you find it boring and frustrating to right click on every image and click “Save Image As”. I’m not a Linux power user myself, but I have Linux installed on several rigs and this thought crossed my mind several times, but without any conclusion being too lazy. Saving flash movies locally is very useful especially when you want to view it again later or share it with friends when they come by your home. Fortunately, I’ve found a similar article via How-To Geek and I have decided to share it with you.
I will try to break the myth on how hard Linux is, how complicated is to set-up crons and of course, how to save your time automating your website backups without using 3rd party software or scripts. Now, if you’re not familiar with this, the cron actually helps you automate any task or Linux command easily. For our current task, we first need a bash file, where we will write the database backup command (MySQL).
