When I heard about Songbird and it’s features, I became somehow very interested. I have installed it and was placed face to face with an iTunes clone (almost identical interface), which dissapointed me without even testing the actual product. Then I said to myself, hey, if it looks like iTunes, it’s not iTunes and, I was right. Songbird is a brilliant media player, which promises alot and I’m sure it will deliver.
Songbird is an open-source media player with good features and an active development team. It can be custmoized using add-ons, has support for Last.fm scrobbling and can stream music using the SHOUTcast Radio service. Also, Songbird gives you the possibility to discover YouTube videos, Google News or Flickr picture for the currently playing artist. Overall, Songbird is a great media player, with many good features and a good team behind it. Also, it promises alot and if the team keeps up the good work, it will become THE media player.
