Amazon.com just launched their first iPhone/iPod Touch application. Amazon promises that with this application, shopping will be made much easier. Well, lets see if Amazon will deliver on this one and how it will deliver. When you launch the application, you can see your Wishlist and also your signed username. You can also see a Search feature on the bottom of the app which works quite well, the results being displayed in a descending list, ordered by their relevance.

The product page is basically the same as on the main site, a little more compacted but fits all the important details. At the bottom of the application, near the Search Tab, you are presented with your shopping cart which displays nicely the number of items present in the cart. If you make up your mind, you can tap on any item, edit and remove them. The main feature of this application however is the “Remembers” tab. Basically, you can take a picture of any product with your iPhone’s camera and have it sent to Amazon.com. Amazon will then return a link with that product and its buy page. This feature, besides it’s very cool, comes in handy either if you don’t know anything about a product or if you want to compare prices with Amazon. Initial reports show that Amazon will return a link in 1-3 minutes max.

Overall, I think Amazon’s application for the iPhone/iPod Touch is very good, with useful features and brilliant simplicity.
