As of today, Adobe is extending its AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) platform to the Linux desktops, covering a gap and making the family ‘whole’. Previously avilable only for the Windows and Mac platforms, AIR is now available for Ubuntu, Fedora, Open SUSE and others. Adrian Ludwig of Adobe stated: “We’re experiencing nearly 100 million installations of Adobe AIR on Mac and Windows by the end of this year”.
For those unfamilliar, Adobe’s AIR is a free platform that enables users to build rich web-based applications such as HTML,JS,ActionScript, that can run outside the browser enviroment. Even tho the Linux market is not as popular as Windows or Mac, Adobe is very confident with this move and will surely bring a boost to its platform.
