device_doctorDevice Doctor is yet another driver update scanner, that, well, updates your computer drivers within some mouse clicks. What made us write about this, is that, as you probably figured it out, it’s completely free. The advantages of a driver updating software are obvious, keeping your computer updated at all times, with the latest driver releases, directly from the application. Of course, there are some drawbacks to any automated task, older drivers are not always found or some incorrect versions are slipped here and there, but overall, a driver update scanner is strongly recommended.

There are other driver update scanners that are worth paying for, like the Uniblue Driver Scanner and while not free, it offers an huge driver database and a slightly better user interface than Device Doctor. However, Device Doctor has an advantage, it allows the user to manually choose and install the found updates, without automating the whole update procedure. And don’t forget, a backup is strongly recommended for any driver updates, manual or automated.

In conclusion, Device Doctor is still a young  application, with alot of potential, that can be easily compared with the big names in the industry. Don’t forget to leave some feedback to the developers, to help Device Doctor become better.

I personally have never had any luck with driver updates. I tend to notice it updates some drivers badly and the hardware stops working on the system. I'd recommend going to hardware vendors websites and finding and updating the drivers there manually. This is and always has been best practice. But I guess if you're a noob when it comes to this sort of thing, for sure have a crack at it.
