Upcoming iPhone OS 2.2 Beta 2 new features

Apple has added some long waited features in its next OS 2.2 update, but also some new improvements. The rumored Google Maps “street view” can be found within the iPhone 2.2 update along with the “public transit directions” and the new “location sharing” feature.

While the “street view” feature within Google Maps is enough to make everybody drool waiting for the new iPhone firmware, the public transit feature is a very good addition in this update. iPhone owners will be guided by choosing a transit icon such as subway or buses, along with the estimated travel time for the selected option.Also, the transit direction feature guides the user to the nearest subway or bus station by showing a series of walking directions. It also provides detailed informations regarding the public transportation route with scheduled departure and arrival time…add walking directions to the next station and you can consider yourself a lucky always on-time person.

The Location Sharing feature enables you to share your location to any iPhone user via an email, in which a link will open the Maps with your location on the user’s iPhone. While we don’t have an official release for the iPhone OS 2.2, the Beta was distributed to a number of developers that expressed their joy regarding this new iPhone OS Update.
