GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) got its expected update, the 2.6.0. The new GiMP 2.6.0 offers several new features and improvements, but most importantly in this version, GIMP includes support for Generic Graphics Library (GEGL). The Generic Graphics Library is a graph based image processing framework which provides infrastructure to do demand based cached non destructive image editing on larger than RAM buffers.

The user interface suffered changed in 2.6.0 as following:

- The toolbox menubar has been removed and merged with the image window menubar

- Toolbox and Docks are Utility windows, always above the image windows.

- Image Border Panning, being possible to pan beyond the image border, making image window navigation much less constrained

GIMP 2.6.0 also got several improvements, such as the Improved Free Select Tool and Brush Dynamics. You can see all new GIMP changes and updates here.

GIMP 2.6.0 can also be downloaded free from our software archive.
