Firefox Minefield: the future of Mozilla Firefox
October 24, 2008, Author: Cezar Renta
If you thought Mozilla Firefox 3 was fast, you don’t have any idea. Presenting Minefield, the fastest browser on the planet, courtesy of, well, Mozilla. Although Mozilla’s Minefiled is an alpha version, it left all browsers in the dust speed wise. Some reports show that Minefield is around 10-15% faster than Google Chrome, having the fastest javascript engine out there.
Browsing through Minefiled, we can get a glimpse at the future, a bright future for Firefox. While this alpha version of Minefield doesn’t support many Firefox plugins, you can take it for a spin anytime.
Download and install the latest nightly build
Be warned, the browser does not prove extremly stable at this point, but being debugged frequently and developed blazingly fast, things can change overnight with the builds. You can also visit the Bugzilla database for the lastest reported bugs and, of course, report yours.
