Skype has announced that it will release the 4th version of the popular client. The Skype 4.0 version is still in Beta for the past several months. but the final version will arrive somewhere at the start of February, officials announced. The new Skype version will be focused on the video conferencing, making it a key feature in the new improved interface. Also, Skype 4.o will feature a new codec which will handle audio and video streams way more efficiently than the previous one, giving smoother video and clearer voice calls.
Skype is going to be ported to different platforms such as Android or Java based clients, in the upcoming days. Another good news is that Skype developed a Skype iPhone client, but officials say they need to reduce its power consumption before is released into the App Store. This can only mean good news, the mobile market needs strong competitors to increase the competition in this niche.
