Even if this isn’t news for many, removing the Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications Tool is still a hassle for most users, so we have decided to teach you how to remove it completely from your Windows XP system. That, and the incredible large amount of email towards our Editors, made me post this small and easy ‘fix’.
The Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications tool (WGA), is a small ‘feature’ which checks your Windows copy on the Microsoft servers to see if its legit. Of course, we don’t have a problem with that, we’re not stimulating any pirated activities! Now, the problem isn’t that the tool verifies the legitimacy of your Windows copy, the problem is that it verifies it at every boot, which is very annoying. This is where RemoveWGA comes in and disables the WGA for good, de-stressing our system.
Using RemoveWGA is pretty simple, you just need to download it, launch it and it will tell you if you have the Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications Tool installed within your Windows system and it will remove it. Simple isn’t it? However, be advised that Windows attempts to update your system with the WGA Tool during some Automatic Updates, so it’s best to be careful what you update/install and just uncheck the unnecessary tools.
