This is the version of HerbStat for iPhone / iPod Touch.

HerbStat allows the user to sort herbs by the number of positive or negative studies done on that herb with regard to various health conditions. The database from which the HerbStat iPhone app has been constructed is a dynamic ongoing collaboration designed to give statistical weight to complementary alternative medicine modalities incorporating information on cancer targets, proteins, inflammatory cascades and more. The information herein is based on direct (herbal) and indirect (phytochemical component/s, up/down regulation of cancer targets or inflammation factors associated with that herb) scientific information, or in cases of a “0” in the sorted column, anecdotal or traditional use.Overall rankings for any herb or supplement refers to its position in the database; a position derived from an algorithm based on: Accumulated net-positive abstracts for ALL conditions; the number of cancer targets it inhibits like EGFR, HER2, COX-2, CXCR-4, CYCLIN D1, ICAM, VCAM, cFLIP…, and many other promotion, inflammation, metastasis and invasion factors; minus the total accumulation of any negative and mixed results as well as cancer targets it may promote (some herbs and supplements or their chemical components may both promote and suppress cancer targets depending on dose and the specific organ system affected); a fractional ORAC value and other factors add points as well. For Specific conditions one herb or supplement may have a low overall ranking but be well ahead of other herbs in terms of accumulated positive, or a very high percentage of positive, abstracts for a specific condition. Overall rankings are good at finding herbs with a broad spectrum of protective characteristics while condition-specific herbs will have a more specific interest. We hope the database proves useful and instructive and look forward to improving the experience in future releases of HerbStat. The phytochemical content of herbs varies as well. For example a large percentage of a phytochemical might be found in one herb and only trace mounts in another. Without knowing the exact percentages however, any positive or negative research associated with that phytochemical is applied equally to both herbs. When exact amounts of mg/kg are known, only the specific phytochemical is positively or negatively affected by the study.Over time the statistical sorting of positive and negative studies will tend to raise and lower the ranking of an herb with respect to certain conditions. Nevertheless, the positive studies with regard to that herb will stand regardless of it's day to day ranking.Disclaimer:
Please be responsible. The data contained herein is not intended to diagnose or propose treatment. Some herbs can be toxic or have adverse affects that may not have, as yet, been cautioned against in this version of the database. There are several good websites and books that contain extensive information about herb/drug interactions and we suggest that you avail yourselves of their expertise. While we do accumulate such information in the course of our research, our database, as such, is statistical in nature, specializing in research that has come to light regarding herbal efficacy against certain conditions. Please see your healthcare provider before beginning or modifying any treatment regime. Thanks for your interest and here's wishing you the best of health!- The Statistical Nature teamThe version adds screenshots for the app store.Overall rankings for any herb or supplement refers to its position in the database; a position derived from an algorithm based on: Accumulated net-positive abstracts for ALL conditions; the number of cancer targets it inhibits like EGFR, HER2, COX-2, CXCR-4, CYCLIN D1, ICAM, VCAM, cFLIP…, and many other promotion, inflammation, metastasis and invasion factors; minus the total accumulation of any negative and mixed results as well as cancer targets it may promote (some herbs and supplements or their chemical components may both promote and suppress cancer targets depending on dose and the specific organ system affected); a fractional ORAC value and other factors add points as well.
