Wubi - Linux world with a single click

Wubi is an installer of Ubuntu for Windows that benefits from official support and allows you to install/uninstall Ubuntu in a simple and safe manner, just like any Windows-based application.

Wubi allows you to install Ubuntu OS on your computer by simply running the installer, eliminating the need to burn a CD, modify partitions on your hard-drive or use a different bootloader. Almost all of the files are kept in a single folder so you can easily uninstall Wubi anytime. Choose from various Ubuntu flavors, the one that suits you most: Ubuntu (default with GNOME), Kubuntu (with KDE), Xubuntu (with XFCE for older computers), Edubuntu (appropriate for younger users and schools) and UbuntuStudio (perfect for multimedia workstations).

The desktop environment can be selected from Wubi, but since desktop environments are available as independent application packages it is best if you install the default Ubuntu and install other desktop environments from there. Every time you login you can select the desktop environment you wish to use.

Ubuntu comes with an extended collection of the commonly used applicatons but you can also install additional programs from a list containing over 20.000 applications.

Requirements:

- 256 MB RAM and an 1 GHz or faster Intel/AMD processor is recommended for optimal performance, though Xubuntu might work on less. As for disk space, the installation requires a minimum of 4GB. This space is mostly used by the virtual hard disk file. Most computers purchased within the last 3 years should be able to run Ubuntu fine, and Xubuntu is suitable for older computers.

Wubi rev 273 is licensed as Freeware for the Windows operating system / platform. Wubi is provided as a free download for all software users (Freeware).
