MacNames - Convert Mac files to PC, add extension,rename
NT/2000/XP utility which can transform automatically Macintosh filenames stored on a Windows NT or 2000 Server volume, removing illegal characters and adding filenames extensions;
With this Mac to PC conversion Windows can identify the appropriate applications associated with renamed files.
MacNames works as well a Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 Service.
It runs with Microsoft Services for Macintosh (MacFile), Cyan Software MacServerIP or Intergraph ExtremeZ-IP.
Option to include sub-folders in renaming process, mapping of illegal characters ( /, \, , ?, *, etc.) that can be easily modified, correspondance table Signatures (Type/Creator) / Extensions easily editable.
Used also to truncate filenames longer than 31 characters, allowing to view these files from Macintosh more friendly than DOS shortnames (8+3).
Can rename files and sub-folders.
Can analyze batches of Macintosh files signatures in selected folders.
Custom setting time interval for updates. Each folder can be processed using its specific interval for update.
Custom setting performance.
Archive renaming operations in Log files.
When a folder becomes unknown (folder removed or renamed, lack a connexion with a file server, etc.), MacNames can send different kind of warnings: beep, display message, send a message to an administrator, messages in the Log, messages in the Applications EventLog (when MacNames is running as a Windows service).
