DBFree - xbase/clipper for the web

DBFREE is a lightweight software solution to publish live contents on the web: it offers in the same package an xBase/Clipper compatible interpreter, a pre-configured web server and a sample web site ready to run; specific drivers for accessing data in DBF format are also included, without the need of a separate database engine.
DBFree is one of the few free solutions designed ground-up to allow developers to run a real production server from home or office either for professional use or for small businesses, using inexpensive hardware and reduced efforts, anytime the application needed is considered to be too small or non enough profitable to be developed with today's complex database developing systems. Using a web server (the pre-configured Xitami or the optional Apache) and with a broadband internet connection a single developer will be able to set up and run a production server straight away and develop fully-fledged web applications to run on it, just using Clipper/Xbase code.
DBFree works with almost any desktop version of Windows, including 2000Pro, XP Home, Vista Home Basic and Windows 7, both on physical or virtual machines. DBFree can also be reconfigured to be used with Apache, Microsoft IIS Web server, and for 64-bit versions of Microsoft Server.
DBFree is focused on productivity and offers an ample degree of indepedence to the single developer, being a amateur or a professional: there is not much to install, no need of system specialists to configure the web server or obscure mechanisms to manage databases.
By having the necessary skills you'll be able to start developing immediately. And even newcomers may consider to invest some time on it: DBFree rely on MaxScript an xBase interpreter offering a fully procedural programming language, that retains the original Clipper logic, known for decades as to be one of the easiest programming language to learn.
DBFree doesn't have its own IDE, but supports authoring tools like Frontpage or Macromedia MX
