RemoveWGA Description
RemoveWGA - Enables you to remove the WGA
RemoveWGA is a small application that removes the Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications tool.
Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications tool connects to Microsoft servers every time you boot, action that can generate security issues for corporate networks and privacy issues for everyone. Although Microsoft published an official answer regarding which information are transmitted, in fact it still remains unclear after an individual study raised some questions.
Another issue that makes WGA Notifications tool untrustworthy is that it checks your Windows OS copy at every boot even if it confirmed it is legit the first time. In addition Microsoft tricked you into installing this tool by telling you it was an urgent security update when in fact WGA Notifications tool doesn’t give you any extra security.
Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications tool is different than Windows Genuine Advantage Validation. RemoveWGA only removes the Notifications tool and MS server connection while the Validation tool remains untouched.
RemoveWGA features:
- Informs you if the WGA Notifications tool is active on your system.
- Can remove the WGA Notifications tool from your system.
- Gives you the option to check automatically if the WGA Notifications tool is active(at startup for example) and has a built-in “-silent” command line parameter that will notify you through a pop-up only if the tool is found.
Note: Some antivirus and antispyware programs flag RemoveWGA as being infected/malware, although the application is perfectly safe and does not pose a threat to your system. This is called a 'false positive'. The term false positive is used when antivirus software wrongly classifies an innocuous (inoffensive ) file as a virus. The incorrect detection may be due to heuristics or to an incorrect virus signature in a database. [Similar problems can occur with antitrojan or antispyware software.]
