Download managers are usually designed to work in tandem with web browsers. While this is the most popular solution, it’s not the most performant one. An alternative would be using a specialized application such as aria2.You can run this small tool only via the command line, with no installation or setup required. Aria2 enables data transfers through multiple connections simultaneously, and it offers support for various protocols, such as HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, BitTorrent and Metalink.
When multiple files are being downloaded at the same time, the program will attempt to use the maximum bandwidth available to ensure the highest download speeds possible. As a result, this means your files will download quickly and you won’t need to wait as long as with using other download managers.
Using the command line is very easy – all you need is to input the correct commands and parameters. Even if you don’t know them, aria2 provides all the necessary information via its help documentation.
