Born on November 5, 1965 in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, Famke Beumer Janssen began her modelling career in 1984 when she signed on to Elite Model Management and modelled for Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and Victoria's Secret. Janssen soon turned her attention to acting with small parts in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation and Melrose Place. In 1993 Janssen landed her first film role in Fathers Sons and in 1994 was in the film GoldenEye. Janssen later played Dr. Jean Grey in X-Men, X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, she has also been in the movies Lord of Illusions, The Faculty, House on Haunted Hill, I Spy, Rounders, Deep Rising and Hide and Seek. Janssen was then Ava Moore in the TV series Nip/Tuck, before returning to films in Gingerbread Man, City of Industry, Monument and Turn the River.
