KMid is specially designed to be an Open Source and accessible MIDI/karaoke player.

The Windows backend uses the native MIDI streaming from Windows MM API. The software synthesizer provided by Microsoft doesn't need launch control or parameters, so there is no need for a Soft-Synth configuration page, making noise out of the box as
well. The library drumstick-file is used to parse MIDI/karaoke files.
