QTFairUse for ITunes - Cconvert protected iTunes m4p files
QTFairUse for ITunes is a free application designed to convert protected m4p files that were purchased in the iTunes Music Store to unprotected m4a files and play them anywhere you want.
Instructions:
To enable automatic conversion for all the protected files in your iTunes library, start the program with no command line parameters. You will be prompted to confirm that you wish to convert all the files in your library: press “y” and hit Enter to start the conversion process.
Next you will be asked if you want to skip tracks that have already been converted. Press “n” and Enter to overwrite them or “y” and Enter to skip.
The converted m4a files will be stored next to the original ones. To stop the conversion during the process press CTRL-C in the console window or close iTunes.
If you want to convert only specific m4p files just drag and drop the files on QTFairUse6.exe. The files will be converted and the program will close.
Sometimes iTunes 6.0.4 can crash after approximately 10 seconds of playback. To avoid this behavior it is recommended you upgrade to iTunes 6.0.5.
iTunes could become unresponsive when the sound output is disabled. However the converted tracks will still be correct.
iTunes 7.0.0 can encounter a COM error. To fix this problem just run “iTunes.exe/regserver: and re-register iTunes COM.
QTFairUse6 can sometimes clean up incorrectly, resulting in iTunes crashing. Restart iTunes and deploy the process again.
