The .SAF format prevents pirates from freely sharing music; as long as an audio file is in .SAF format only the rightful owners can listen to the audio track.

This security measure is usually best for producers trying to sell a sample track without their work being stolen. Although this means of security can be useful for independent artist who need all the sales to count. No other media players will be able to play .SAF format, only an .SAF player.
